Hey, Teachers!

Hello teachers! Recently a letter went to area schools sharing some resources we have for schools, as well as suggesting you consider a fall tour of the museum – or book now for a spring tour! Do you know we have an Education Committee? This committee has a few retired educators, a few current educators and a few interested people. Our mandate goes beyond school age, but much of our focus is on the K-12 level. If you did not see the letter – click here!

The museum is a great place to visit, and we can try to tailer your tour to your needs. We have many areas to connect with the curriculum – either directly (eg. flight, social studies – nationhood, role of women, and so on) as well as in creative ways, for example, how about an art class to sketch some of our aircraft or vehicles? photography class? writing? This page has some suggested curricular connections! We have some resources available on our education web page (https://airmuseum.ca/services/tours-education/) including;

  • resources for teaching flight (on Wakelet)
  • activities suitable for high school (created by a local teacher)
  • a tour guide with suggested questions
  • some online jigsaw puzzles and a jeopardy style game.
  • A selection of videos on our YouTube channel
  • Finally, do you know our Education Committee member, Don, a well known Brandon educator, has developed a learning kit that uses the BCATP as a vehicle to address many ELA and other outcomes from MB curricula? It consists of several modules and some exciting activities for learning. While it is still a ‘work in progress’, if you are interested in using the materials, please contact the museum!

Spring tours are popular at the museum, so consider us for you r trip – book as soon as you can!

Also – we are on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and Twitter (X) so give us a follow! (links in the banner).

Note – the museum must close temporarily from the end of October until the start of May, however, during the week at that time, someone is at the museum to answer your calls or emails!
