This Chevrolet is a Heavy-Duty Stake Express 1.5 -ton truck. The year of manufacture is unclear, according to the serial number, we believe it is 1940. We believe it was manufactured in Oshawa, Ontario and was available with or without the stakes and tailgate. It had a wheelbase of 158.5 inches. Below you can see the serial number tag and weight tag from this truck.

These types of trucks were used for general use, such as hauling freight or even men, from place to place. This particular truck saw service here in Brandon at #12 SFTS. After the war, it was purchased and used by MacArthur Transport. In the early 1950’s it was purchased and converted by Cancade Company into a state-of-the-art grain truck and used on the farm of Bertram Kemp until the mid 1980s. It was kindly donated to the museum by his grandson, David Lawrence of Hamiota in 2009. At that time, it was returned to its’ original role as a stake truck.
